Your Guide to Rockets

What are Rockets?

In the simplest terms, a rocket is a pyrotechnic firework consisting of a paper tube filled with gunpowder. A one-shot firework, you propel rockets into the air where they explode with an effect and a bang.

There are numerous types of rockets, all of which we stock in our firework shops. These include skyrockets, missiles and bottle rockets. Skyrockets have a stick which provides stability during airborne flight, while missiles rotate during the same phase for the same reason. You can also shoot some missiles out of a tube. Though smaller, bottle rockets also have a stick which offers stabilisation.

We are customer-focused firework suppliers, so our team knows everything about the various rockets we sell, as well as all our other cheap fireworks for sale.

Generally speaking, the components of a rocket are:

• Main Body
• Motor
• Fuse Cover
• Stick

The main body contains the effect itself. It explodes out when the rocket is in mid-air. The motor provides the thrust needed to take off in the first place, while the fuse cover is more of a protective element that you must remove prior to lighting the fuse itself. You should also remember that the stick – and sometimes the casing – falls back to earth after firing. Take this into account when drawing up your fallout area.

Rockets also have an internal fuse which ignites when the rocket’s motor has consumed all its fuel. This delays the release of the effect and allows for coasting time where the rocket continues to ascend.

Of course, gravity eventually pulls the rocket back to earth, so it slows and hits its apex. The delay lasts just long enough for the rocket to explode at its highest point and at optimum velocity.

What Effects Do Rockets Create?

With rockets, there’s usually only a second or two between take off and explosion. However, they are one of the most dazzling fireworks for sale on the market today, and certainly one of the most popular we sell as firework suppliers. This is primarily due to the huge, sky-filling displays they produce. In turn, this effect is possible because the largest rockets can reach a height of 300ft.

The selection of rockets in our firework shops produces an array of effects, including coloured stars, hanging gold willow and crackles, to name a few.
